practice makes... a really good pub band!

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to suggest Wednesday nights for practice at MLJ's from now on. Wednesday 2nd being the first.

Does that work for everyone?

BTW: Listened to the complete Wallflowers/Sleepless back catlog whilst gardening. I had the doors of the house open and it sounded like some really good pub band was playing inside. Good job lads!

What time is the Wheatsheaf Gig? I'm camping with our Japanese exchange student on that week end but could make it back to an evening show.

Still up for Melbourne, and like the idea of making it as short a trip as possible.

I can bring people to the Artisans show - I have a group of people from work who want to see us as well as tying it in with our Japansese exchange student group.

I really like the look of the web-site - especially the way it ties in with the MySpace look too. I tried the Grace test ink and it did a blank pop-up and then started Windows Media player and started to play the song. I'll work on the Flash version of the pop-up soon.

I'll turn off the auto emailing of new blog entries so you will have to follow each blog with an email to sleepless@sleepless.com.au that says - read the blog.

If you want, we can start a mailing list mailinglist@sleepless.com.au that we can all put names into to leverage on the emails mjl is sending - let me know what you think. It's easy to set up and manage - mlj can do it.

what a messy confusion ... here are some dates

27/7   Wheatsheaf Sunday 27th July - only a possibility (date, support TBC - 25/7 cancelled)

2/8     Jade Monkey Sat 2nd August - with the Artisans (not much money)

20/8   Grace Emily Wed 20th August - possibly with Peter or TPOBooks ($150) 

??/9   Empress (Melbourne) Sun ??th Sept - possibly with 16mm or The Good China ($$??)

2/10   Grace Emily Thursday 2nd October - with 16mm ($100)

3/10   Wheatsheaf Friday 3rd October - with 16mm ($$??)

25/10 Grace Emily Saturday 25th October - with a cast of 1000s doing Triffids covers (??$$)

That's 7 gigs in 4 months - a bit above our average ... the 27/7 Wheaty is not a certainty and I could easily withdraw from that i.e. not ask for another gig (until November) to replace the cancellation ... the Melbourne gig is a bit of a stretch but worth doing just to say we did it (leave sunday return monday ... or fly both ways if it is an afternoon gig - use gig$$ to pay) - Peter do you want to come to/ will you be in Melbourne? ... we could lose the 2/10 or the 3/10 although not both  ... luckily I haven't made enquiries about the Ed! ... Redpoles may drop something into the mix also ... so far every other line has got a bite ...

I think the Artisans gig could be a good night to "promote" - Matt you may need to get your press release rollerskates on ...

also I sent an email to our mailing list about bothering JJJunearthed ... can you all forward the link to anyone that is not on my list that may be interested or better still send me a list of your people to add to the sleepless mail outs

What I have been doing

We seem to be inundated with MySpace requests ... yipee ... am in conversation with Young Werther, Hundred Fire Management and 16millimetre about a trip to Melbourne in late Sept. to mid Oct. (school holidays) ... the Triffids gig line up looks great (the Ice cream Hands!) ... I have spent a bit of time revamping myspace and linking it to TripleJ and this blogg ... still waiting for the font change, photo fix and cd burner for www.sleepless.com.au ... looking forward to playing at the Wheaty with pleasure of books ... 25th July ... will ask Greg about a show  in August or early September ... RRR have our demo and bio (as we speak) so am looking forward to some feedback ... Lamplight are playing at Fowlers this Friday - I would like to go ... encourage people to goto unearthed and rate us ... sent out an annoying email about our last gig ... did some follow up to see if people hate them (i do) but responses were encouraging ... gave out "cards" at the gig - very uncomfortable ... we should "put up" some other songs "razorwire", "spineless", "my number" and "treasure" ... check out the "boat people" on you tube ... and ... the "band of horses" on myspace
